These bags typically have anti-reflux valves to prevent backflow and a drainage port at the bottom for easy emptying. The bag is attached to the patient’s leg or bed and should be positioned below kidney level to promote proper drainage by gravity.
Connectors and Extension Tubing
Connectors and extension tubing link the catheter to the drainage bag. These components are crucial for ensuring a leak-proof and secure connection. Some systems have quick-release mechanisms or valves for ease of detachment during cleaning or bag changes. The tubing should be long enough to allow free patient movement but not so long as to kink or obstruct flow.
